The plan of care of the cardiac surgery patient is conceived by a collaborative, multidisciplinary team composed of cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, cardiologists, electrophysiologists, physician assistants, critical care nurses, open heart surgical nurses, specially trained cardiac recovery nurses, respiratory therapists, dieticians, and physical therapists. Morristown Memorial Hospital has dedicated 4 Operating Rooms exclusively for cardiac surgery. Patients are treated in a 14-bed Open Heart Recovery Unit and a 54-bed Post-Procedure Cardiovascular Care Unit.
