Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) is a 661 bed acute care hospital located in Central Monmouth County with the only open heart surgery program in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. A major teaching hospital and tertiary care center, Jersey Shore offers a Level II regional trauma center and pediatric trauma center, a level III regional perinatal center and neonatal Intensive care unit, and a regional pediatric intensive care unit associated with K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital.

JSUMC is the leader in cardiac services with 89 staffed cardiologists, high risk catheterization laboratories, and advanced procedure capabilities including myocardial revascularization and advanced electrophysiologic services including pacemakers, defibrillators, and ablations. With the 300 million dollar hospital expansion, the cardiac operating rooms are State of the Art and all beds on the Cardisic Surgery Service are private. Jersey Shore University Medical Center boasts one of the busiest cath labs in the tri-state area performing greater than 8,000 procedures (balloon angioplasties, stents, etc.). Last year JSUMC had the third highest volume of cardiac surgery in the State of New Jersey and has ths lowest mortality rate in the state over the past decade. *

In addition to Jersey Shore University Medical Center's cardiac capabilities and specialties, the hospital offers a single-room maternity unit, ambulatory care, and behavioral health services. Jersey Shore University Medical Center's cancer center offers stem-cell transplant, a linear accelerator, and thanks to an affiliation with the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ), the latest developments In cancer prevention and treatment.

JSUMC is a member of University Health System, a consortium of major teaching hospitals in the State of New Jersey. As an affiliate of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Jersey Shore is a designated major (Core) teaching hospital and offers physician residency training programs and obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, dentistry, and a transitional residency program for a variety of specialties.
